Workers encouraged to take part in landmark safety survey

Publish date:

Workers are invited to shape the future of work health and safety and participate in a national survey which will be used to create safer work environments across Australia.

Acting Head of SafeWork John Tansey said respondents to the National WHS Radar survey will help researchers better understand the WHS environment, while data will inform new research, policy, and interventions creating safer workplaces.

“We’ve set a goal to collect and release the most current WHS data available every six months and will be utilising thousands of different sources to identify the most critical changes and risks in work health and safety (WHS),” Mr Tansey said.

“This has never been done at this scale or frequency and the Centre for Work Health and Safety is determined to capture as many on-the-ground experiences, perspectives, and opinions from survey respondents as it can reach.

“While based in NSW, we are wanting to hear from Australian workers at the coalface of health and safety at work and ensure the tools and resources the Centre produce are as relevant and current as possible.

Responses will be used to identify trends in WHS and uncover any challenges and innovations that sit outside the current research and harm prevention agenda.

Any workers over the age of 18 currently living in Australia, or who are working in or have worked in Australia in the last six months, are encouraged to share their own experience with safety and health at work as part of the first round of responses open now until 31 January 2023.
