What is the AI WHS Scorecard?

The AI WHS Scorecard is a tool for assessing the hazards and risks that workers face due to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in a workplace.

The scorecard:

• identifies hazards relating to the use of AI in the workplace and assigns to each a risk rating based on your estimate of how likely the hazard is to lead to harm in your workplace and how severe that harm would be
• is based on Australian Government-endorsed AI Ethics Principles and Safe Work Australia standards for managing workplace health and safety hazards
• was developed in consultation with AI experts, WHS professionals, regulators, policymakers, and organisations with experience in adopting AI.

What are the benefits?

• More and more Australian organisations are making use of AI in the workplace, affecting role design, task allocation, time management, organisational structure, and communication.
• The AI WHS Scorecard will help organisations using, planning to use, or exploring the use of AI in the workplace to identify contexts or actions that may affect the ethical application of AI and protect workers from harm.
