How service providers can improve farmer WHS

The Emerging Impacts on Farmers Pack is designed to assist service providers in the agri‑service sector to support farmers in managing the work health and safety (WHS) implications of on-farm change.

What is the Emerging Impacts on Farmers Pack?

The pack provides information about the work health and safety challenges that farmers face as they adapt to the effects of climate change and other types of disruption. This information is designed to help service providers to encourage farmers to consider the WHS implications of on-farm change.

What are the benefits?

  • One factor that is having a big impact on farmer wellbeing, health, and safety is the increasingly variable climate that is forcing them into new ways of working. With a shift to more sustainable land practices, there are a lot of ramifications that need to be considered when supporting the WHS of farming communities.
  • Key areas of concern are the mental health and resilience of farmers, and potential new physical risks, when facing ongoing natural disasters, new financial stresses, and labour difficulties as a direct result of a changing climate.
  • In dealing with these challenges, farmers need support from the agri‑service sector.
  • The Emerging Impacts on Farmers pack has been developed to help service providers in the agri-service sector to provide this support by integrating health and safety related messages into the information they usually share with them.
