Regulator Readiness

Project status: Active

How can the regulator stay prepared for the ever-changing future of work?

The world of work is undergoing a profound transformation, with new technologies and unconventional work arrangements revolutionising the way work is organised and distributed across communities.

As a result, expectations around work are also evolving, prompting a need for a better understanding of how work is defined and structured.

The WHS regulators who work within our community face an evolving challenge, needing to stay abreast of rapid developments across many industries while being able to effectively adapt to change and support businesses to create safe working environments.

Preparing the Regulators for tomorrow

The Centre has undertaken a research project that aims to study the future work environment from the perspective of the WHS regulator.

Our goal is to gain insights and plan for effective regulation of workplaces in the future. We will achieve this by:

  • identifying new and emerging ways of working;
  • reviewing the current regulatory framework in NSW;
  • identifying and prioritising gaps in SafeWork NSW’s current regulatory framework; and
  • developing practical solutions to address these gaps.

Watch this space for updates on this exciting research project, which will provide valuable insights into the future of work and the regulation of workplaces in Australia.
